A coyote zig-zagged its way through outbound Stevenson traffic Thursday morning, causing minor delays for drivers.

The coyote was spotted near Harlem and was chased by state police and Animal Control officers. They were unable to tranquilize it.

The coyote was struck by an SUV around 7:30 a.m. but got right up and kept running. The coyote then left the road and disappeared into the brush near the Sanitary Canal and forest preserve. It was not captured.
