In an exclusive interview with ABC7 political reporter Charles Thomas, Mayor Emanuel says it's a first for the city-- providing every child with at least two hours of arts education a week.
"Here in Chicago we're not just adding and doing these as firsts, it's now in the core of what an education is. Schools no longer pick between math and music," said Mayor Emanuel.
The mayor announced that 45 schools will receive grants for art supplies, materials and other needs.
