Security increased for annual Wrigleyville bar crawl

December 13, 2013 (CHICAGO)

It happens Saturday from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m.

Last year a man was stabbed with a broken beer bottle at Red Ivy Bar in the 3500 block of North Clark.

There were also acts of vandalism and noise complaints.

This year organizers are working to make sure things are more controlled.

"The event is a closed event, so every bar, every establishment taking place will only allow someone in with a wrist band and that's going to be strictly enforced," said Lissa Christman. "Two reasons: To keep the people safe inside and keep the crowd safe outside."

Twenty thousand people are expected to take part.

Organizers say more than 100 security guards will be along the route that includes 55 bars.
