Culver's in Carol Stream raises money for 2-year-old leukemia patient

December 19, 2013 (CAROL STREAM, Ill.)

After hearing about two-year-old Vayda Heard's diagnosis, the restaurant chain's co-founder, Craig Culver, wanted to help.

He met the child's family on Thursday and says the funds raised will help cover Vayda's chemotherapy and medical bills.

"We never expected anything like this to happen. I mean, we obviously live in a great community," said Keith Heard, father.

Teachers from several Carol Stream schools served dinners Thursday at the Culver's in a show of support for Vayda and her family.
