Christmas celebration keeps son's memory alive; Bob, Linda Stack host sailers from Naval Station Great Lakes

December 25, 2013 (ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill.)

Flags and applause greeted the sailors as they arrived at Christian Liberty Academy in Arlington Heights. They're in an 8-week long basic training program and haven't access to phones, TV or the internet.

Wednesday they enjoyed plenty of food and the chance to reconnect with the outside world.

The holiday celebration was organized by Bob and Linda Stack, who lost their son three years ago when he was serving in Afghanistan.

"I would just like to take this opportunity to thank you recruits for your service to our country in the United States Navy the world's greatest Navy," Bob Stack said. "I appreciate what you're doing, thank you very much."

The sailors were also given phones so they could speak to loved ones before returning to great lakes.
