A demonstration is held in Chicago protesting an aggressively anti-gay law passed by the legislature in the central African country of Uganda.

The prayer vigil was held outside Uganda's Chicago consulate on the South Side.

The nation's anti-gay bill would make certain acts punishable by life in prison.

In an earlier version of the bill some acts would have brought the death penalty.

The U.S. State Department has condemned the legislation.

The bill won't become law unless it is signed by the president of Uganda.
