The shooting took place at about 2 a.m. on New Year's Day in the 100-block of West 105th Street, near a home where a private party was taking place.
Chicago police said that police gunfire hit three people. Two of those injured, both brothers, are at Christ Medical Center in serious condition. Their sister was also hit by gunfire and she is at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in fair condition. The family, however, also says that there was a fourth person who was shot.
Two stories emerged Wednesday after a police-involved shooting at a Roseland home.
"I heard gunshots and I saw my siblings dropping on the floor with blood everywhere," said Tiffany Williamson.
A New Year's Eve party was underway at the time of the shooting. Relatives and friends say four people were shot.
Two brothers were outside on the back porch and are in serious condition. Michael Williamson, a Navy sailor home on leave, and Princeton Williamson of Chicago.
"I just hope they are okay," said Tiffany Williamson.
Friends and family say two people inside the party were hit by gunfire. They say Kierra Williamson was dancing in the kitchen. She's in fair condition at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. And they say Thaddeus Williamson was also injured, but not transported.
"Six shots went off, once the 6 shots went off, we seen the police come in with their guns, told everyone to get down. They kicked in the back door, kicked in the front door," said Bree Collins, witness.
Chicago police say it unfolded before 2 a.m. Wednesday morning as tactical officers responded to the area to help other units in a foot chase when they heard gunfire. They approached the front and back door of the home on West 105th Street.
Police say someone on the back porch was holding a handgun, and they ordered the person to drop the gun. Instead, police say the person refused, and pointed the gun at them. Police say an officer fired, striking three people. Witnesses say Michael and Princeton Williamson were on the back porch, but not to cause trouble.
"They went out that door to go smoke, no sooner that door closed, I heard shots. The door opened back up and the door was coming this way, and they fell," said Charles Lewis, resident.
Relatives also dispute that the Williamson brothers had a gun, although police say they recovered one at the scene.
"I want to see them explain how they shot somebody who was in my house. If they were shooting at somebody who shot at them outside, when they explain that, I'll understand," said Lewis.
Chicago police said that they do have a suspect in custody. They're also confirming that it is one of the three people who is hospitalized, so the suspect is one of the people who was shot. At this point, charges are pending.
In another police-involved shooting, police say an officer shot a man who allegedly raised a gun toward officers moments after midnight in the 500-block of East 67th Street.
Fraternal Order of Police spokesman Pat Camden said that man was celebrating New Year's Eve by firing a gun.
