Chicago Public School annex construction complete

Two Chicago Public Schools will get some relief from overcrowding.

Students at Edison Park Elementary School helped Mayor Emanuel cut the ribbon celebrating the opening of the annex.

The school was built to hold 300 students, it currently has 469 students

The new annex will allow the school to accommodate 570 students.

Earlier on Monday, another ribbon cutting ceremony was held at Hale Elementary School.

The new annex at Hale will allow the school to properly teach its 872 students.
