Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel takes action in city council Wednesday to end the advantages ride sharing companies have over taxis.

A proposed ordinance would license those businesses.

Ride sharing companies like Sidecar and Lyft allow people to offer rides in their personal vehicles.

The proposal would also require those drivers to be trained, drug tested and get criminal background checks.
