Mount Prospect teachers strike possibility prompts last-minute negotiations

Eleventh-hour talks were set to get underway Sunday in an effort to avert a teachers strike in northwest suburban Mount Prospect.

Teachers in elementary District 57 already voted overwhelmingly to authorize a strike.

Negotiations between the teachers and the district's board of education have been going on for a year. One sticking point is compensation.

The earliest a strike could start is at some point after Thursday, February 13. No official strike date has been set.
