Four people shot at Safe and Sound Senior Citizen Social Club in Gary, Indiana

February 13, 2014 (GARY, Ind.)

The shooting happened Wednesday night in the 2200 block of Broadway in Gary, Indiana at the Safe and Sound Social Club.

''Upon [police] arrival, they found there were multiple shooting victims and one suspect who had also been shot,'' said Gabrielle King of the Gary Police Department.

The shooting victims are all males between the ages of 43-76 years old.

Police say the 23-year-old shooter went into the private club armed with a shotgun and ordered everyone to get on the floor. At some point, shots were fired and one person inside the club shot the gunman

In 2011, Safe and Sound Senior Citizen Social Club was raided twice for serving liquor without a license. The owner of the senior citizens club, in one of the raids, was also arrested and charged for promoting professional gambling.

Police believe that robbery was the likely motive in this case. It is unclear how many people were in the social club at the time.

We will continute to update this developing story.
