Chicago snow removal nearly $5M over budget

February 13, 2014 (CHICAGO)

The city has blown through $25 million on snow removal and is nearly $5 million over budget.

The mayor was forced to use a motor fuel tax fund surplus to cover the extra spending, according to the Sun-Times.

That money usually goes toward road repair and pothole patching.

Once that money is gone, Mayor Emanuel may have to ask City Council to approve additional funds to finance snow removal.
