Presidents' Day a make-up day for some Indiana students

February 17, 2014 (INDIANAPOLIS)

Some Indiana school districts are making up those snow days on Presidents' Day to satisfy state education requirements.

Beech Grove City schools are holding classes on Monday. Superintendent Paul Kaiser said holding classes on Presidents' Day keeps the school year from extending into the summer break.

"We had that Monday, Presidents Day, off, but having to make up over eight school days, we decided to go to school," Supt. Kaiser said.

If Kaiser's school district misses two more days, it could run into a problem with graduation ceremonies.
