It happened Saturday afternoon just a few blocks from Mayor Rahm Emanuel's house.
Police say a man and a woman approached the victim and tried to rob her. The woman threw a bottle of bleach in the victim's face.
Her screams attracted neighbors and the couple ran away after the unsuccessful robbery attempt.
The victim was treated for minor injuries.
