The month-long campaign helps children in crisis.
Mayor Rahm Emanuel and some of Chicago's civic and business leaders helped kick off the campaign.
Throughout March, Mercy Home will reach out to the public and advocate on behalf of children who face serious challenges like, neglect or abuse.
Volunteers will give shamrocks to people who donate to the campaign. All campaign proceeds will help Mercy Home.
Mayor Emanuel also proclaimed March as the "Mercy Home for Boys and Girls March for Kids" month.
