Vet saves poisoned dog by giving it vodka

A Maltese terrier named Charlie had lapped up a coolant leak in the garage. Emergency vets diagnosed him with ethanol glycol poisoning. He had just hours to live.

The vets decided there was only one cure: get Charlie as drunk as possible.

Charlie spent two days receiving treatments, in this case vodka. But the alcohol did as the vets hoped -- it helped flush the anti-freeze out of his system.

His owner said he was a grumpy drunk, but she's happy he's still alive.
