The recent polar plunge raised more than $1 million for Special Olympics Chicago.

More than 3200 people waded into the icy waters of Lake Michigan, which set a record for the event.

Mayor Rahm Emanuel agreed to take the plunge if Chicago school children read more than two million books last summer.

The polar plunge helps fund the activities of more than 5,000 athletes.
