Tyler The Creator arrested for inciting riot at SXSW festival

AUSTIN, Texas

Authorities say the rapper, Tyler Gregory Okonma, 23, of Los Angeles, told a crowd of fans to push their way past venue employees who were monitoring an unofficial day party.

The event was already at full capacity, but officers said that Tyler yelled for fans to push their way inside twice. A bartender allegedly had to protect a woman from injury in the resulting push.

He was arrested at Austin-Bergstrom Airport Saturday and charged with inciting a riot. The charge is a misdemeanor in Texas and carries a penalty of up to a year in jail and a $4,000 fine.

After posting bail, the rapper was released and played a sold-out show at the House of Blues in Dallas.
