Chicago Firefighters Union Local 2 reaches tentative contract agreement with city

Chicago firefighters could soon have a new contract after working without one for nearly two years.

The city and the union have reached a tentative deal, but it still needs member approval.

The mayor's office calls the deal "a responsible approach."

However, if the contract is ratified, it will not fix the under-funded police or firefighter pension systems- that's a separate issue.
