Suspect in Amber Creek murder appears in court

James Eaton, a 36-year-old Palatine man, has been charged in the 1997 murder of 14-year-old Amber Creek.

James Eaton, the Palatine man suspected in the 1997 killing of 14-year-old amber creek, made his initial court appearance this afternoon in Racine County, Wisconsin.

In court, prosecutors allege Eaton carried out what they called a savage and brutal attack against the girl. Amber Creek was sexually assaulted and suffocated. Her body was found months later in rural Racine County.

Eaton is being held on $500,000 cash bail. He'll have a preliminary hearing on April 16.
