It happened on the 300-block of North Harrison in the Sun River Terrace area of Kankakee early Thursday morning.
Deputies say 18-year-old Celophus Reed died in the shooting.
Officers say his 15-year-old accomplice managed to get away, but was arrested a few hours later.
The remaining suspect faces a number of charges now, including felony murder.
