Whitefish shortage impacting Passover Seders

April 13, 2014 (SKOKIE, Ill.)

Passover starts Monday night and after the Seder it's a tradition to serve matzo ball soup and gefilte fish.

But because Lake Michigan was frozen for so long the boats couldn't get through for the fishermen and now there's a whitefish shortage.

It's a real problem since it's the main ingredient in gefilte fish.

At Hungarian Kosher Foods in Skokie they are rationing the fresh whitefish and urge customers to eat frozen or jarred fish.
