Police seek suspect in 2 Woodridge armed robberies in last four days

April 28, 2014 (WOODRIDGE, Ill.)

The latest robbery took place on Monday afternoon in the 7900 block of Janes Avenue. There are few details available at this time, but police say it is the same man who committed two other armed robberies, that he used a handgun and that there are no reported injuries.

Police released a picture of the suspect, taken from a surveillance camera last Thursday, April 24. Shortly after the picture was recorded, police say the suspect robbed a woman at a Jewel store. They say he was armed with a butcher knife. Last night, he approached a car in the 2600 block of Forest Drive, pulled out a gun and robbed the people inside, taking a phone, cash and other items.

All the robberies have taken place in broad daylight.

"We have increased patrols in the area, we've put the community on the alert," said Traci Steger of the Woodridge Police Department. "We've issued multiple releases through the press and our social media, both the police department and the village. Residents are very aware, they're calling, notifying us of any potential suspicious people, and we encourage them to do so. We take everything seriously."

Police say the man is between 5'8" and 5'10", in his late teens or early 20s and has a medium build. He is wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black jeans, a black baseball hat with a red bill and his face is covered with a bandana.

If you have any information regarding this man, please contact the Woodridge detective unit at 603-719-4764.
