CHICAGO (WLS) -- Subcompact SUVs are a big hit at the 2015 Chicago Auto Show.

Luxury subcompact SUVs were all the rage last year, according to Joe Wiesenfelder of Cars.com. But this year, people can check out four new offerings that are much more affordable.

The Honda HR-V, Jeep Renegade, Mazda CX-3 and Chevrolet Trax are all featured at McCormick Place this year. They range from $18,000-$20,000 in price.

Wiesenfelder said what consumers like about sport utility vehicles is that they are efficient. They like the hatchback utility, having all-wheel drive when motorists need it, a higher view of the road, better mileage and a more affordable price.

Wiesenfelder said subcompact SUVs, which are basically station wagons designed to look like SUVs, offer all of these things in a smaller package. They have the capability of an SUV without the bulk.

The Chicago Auto Show runs through Feb. 22nd. Tickets are $12 for adults, $6 for seniors and children ages 7 to 12, and free for children 6 and under.
