DEVON, Pa. -- Die-hard Tesla fans began camping out across the country Wednesday night to be first in line to reserve the new Model 3 car, the first Tesla with a price that competes with non-luxury vehicles.

Some people bought chairs, blankets and books as they waited for the store in Devon, Pennsylvania, to open Thursday morning.

Die-hard Tesla fans began camping out Wednesday night to be first in line to reserve the new Model 3 car.

These folks are planning to put a $1,000 refundable reserve deposit on a car that they haven't seen yet. Tesla won't start delivering the car until late next year.

The car has generated so much excitement because the Model 3 is expected to cost around $35,000, which is about half of Tesla's other two models.

"I've always like the Tesla, however the price has been kind of high. This is going to be their mass market car that everybody can afford," said Ken Barbour of Deptford, New Jersey.

If you don't want to go in a store, you can go online to sign up at Tesla when the unveiling begins 10:30 p.m. Thursday.
