Victory Auto Wreckers holds commercial contest
Victory Auto Wreckrs is holding a YouTube contest to replace their iconic television ad which has been running for 30 years.

BENSENVILLE, Ill. (WLS) -- There are some TV commercials you love and others you hate, and then there the ones you never forget.

Some commercials run days, others run weeks or months, but unless you've been living on Mars since the mid-1980s, you've seen the Victory Auto Wreckers commercial thousands of times. It's been running, virtually unchanged, for 30 years.

To last three decades is unheard of, so now Victory Auto Wreckers is looking for a new way to sell their product.

"We want to celebrate the commercial that's been around for 30 years by having a YouTube contest where you can recreate the commercial in a new way," explains Jesse Padilla, marketing manager for Victory Auto Wreckers. "Or put a new spin on it. We just want to see it, so we're having a contest."

You can visit Victory and shop around for inspirational, recyclable commercial ideas, then visit the Vctory Auto Wreckers website for contest details. The winner will get $500.

The Bensenville business takes in about 50 cars a day and turns them into valuable junk. They say they've been recycling here since the late 1940's.

"We take the cars," explains Jesse Padilla, marketing manager for Victory Auto Wreckers, "We purchase them from the public, drain the fluids and everything in an environmentally sound manner, and then we recycle the vehicles and nothing goes to waste."

The junked cars bring anywhere from $200 to $400. The value has nothing to do with the condition of the vehicle, just the weight.
