MAYWOOD, Ill. (WLS) -- A south suburban woman Sunday met the man who saved her life and the two were complete strangers.
There was an emotional embrace Sunday between Emily Dziedzic and Joshua Riggs at Loyola's Cancer Center in Maywood. Dziedzic was suffering from leukemia and needed bone marrow and Riggs was registered on the bone marrow transplant list.
"I thought it was interesting, so I signed up," said Riggs. "About three or four months later, they called me and said I was a match."
This is not the first time Riggs has saved a life. He received an award from the police department for saving a baby from drowning when he was 8 years old.
