WILL COUNTY, Ill. (WLS) -- A suburban police officer wrongly-accused of murder appeared in a Will County courtroom Friday looking to clear his name.
Brian Dorian was charged in a shooting five years ago along the Illinois-Indiana border that left a man dead and two others hurt.
Dorian was held in jail for five days before his alibi checked out and charges were dropped.
Earlier this year, he agreed to a settlement with Will County.
He says getting his record cleared was an important final step in the healing process.
"I had to forgive and I actually publicly forgive them. I will never forget, but I do forgive," Dorian said.
As part of the settlement, Will County investigators never admitted wrongdoing.
Dorian continues to work for the Lynwood Police Department.
