Average sweetheart will spend $142 on Valentine's Day, survey says

Let's hope Cupid is armed with deep pockets this Valentine's Day.

This year, the average sweetheart will fork over $142 for gifts. That's up more than $10 compared to last year, according to a survey by the National Retail Federation.

The group says holiday spending is expected to total nearly $19 billion overall.
