CHICAGO (WLS) -- A pilot program allowing cameras in the courtroom begins Monday in Cook County.

It's already in place in about half the counties across the state. Supporters say it's a matter of transparency, allowing the public to see how the justice system works.

Judges will have discretion about whether to allow cameras, and some cases will be off-limits, such as divorces and juvenile matters.

You can see ABC7's entire Newsviews interview with Chief Judge Timothy Evans on Eyewitness News on Sunday morning starting at 8 a.m.
