Temple student dies after falling from building, landing on pedestrian

PHILADELPHIA -- Police say a female Temple University student has died after falling from a Center City building and landing on a pedestrian who was on the ground below.

It happened around 6:00 p.m. at 16th and Chestnut streets.

Police say the 20-year-old woman was visiting two male Art Institute students on the eighth floor.

Police believe she was leaning out of the window taking pictures at the time when and as she tried to get back inside she fell.

During the fall, she struck a 44-year-old who was on the ground.

The student who fell was taken to Jefferson Hospital in critical condition and she later succumbed to her injuries.

The pedestrian was taken to Hahnemann Hospital in stable condition.

Police are investigating.
