Minivan crashes into West Side home after fatal shooting

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A minivan crashed into a home in the Austin neighborhood after two men in the car were shot, one fatally, Sunday night, Chicago police said.

The two men were stopped at a stoplight in the 1700-block of North Mayfield Avenue just after 9 p.m. when they were surrounded by a group of men who started shooting, police said. The car ended up crashing through a fence and into the yard of a home.

A 22-year-old man was shot in the face and back and pronounced dead at the scene, police said. A 24-year-old man was transported in good condition with a gunshot wound to his elbow.

Chicago police are searching for multiple suspects in connection with the shooting. No one is in custody.
