CHICAGO (WLS) -- Chicago police and Cook County sheriff's police are working together to fight crime in several communities on the South and West sides, including Alderman Ray Lopez's Back of the Yards neighborhood.

He requested Sheriff Tom Dart's help in curbing gang violence. Turns out, it's already happening, according to Interim Superintendent Eddie Johnson.

Johnson said the department has gotten a positive response from the communities where they've worked together with the sheriff's department, and expects the partnership to continue.
