CHICAGO (WLS) -- The cold weather means Chicago police officers can wear knit caps as part of their uniform.

Last June, a new policy banned police from wearing knit and baseball caps while on duty. The department said the goal was to promote 'professionalism.'

However, the policy was recently reversed to allow for knit caps.
