Chicago Weather: Strong storms move through city, suburbs

Strong storms knocked down a tree in southwest suburban Woodridge Monday afternoon.

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Scattered strong thunderstorms, some of which were severe, brought gusty winds, hail and torrential downpours to the Chicago area Monday afternoon.

Downed tree limbs were reported in Glen Ellyn and Woodridge as the storms moved through the suburbs.

The storms caused travel delays at both O'Hare and Midway airports. As of 4 p.m., O'Hare reported delays averaging 45 minutes and more than 155 flights had been canceled. Midway reported minor delays and cancellations.
