CHICAGO -- Chicago police are conducting an investigation into the death of an infant girl who stopped breathing Sunday morning on Chicago's North Side.
Officers responded about 6:10 a.m. when the 5-month-old stopped breathing in the 4800-block of North Winthrop Avenue in the city's Uptown neighborhood, police said Sunday. The girl was taken to Louis A. Weiss Memorial Hospital, where she was pronounced dead at 7:35 a.m.
The girl was identified Monday by the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office as 4-moth-old Zoey Sagay. She lived in an apartment located on the same block where police said she stopped breathing, authorities said.
An autopsy is pending. Area North detectives are investigating.
