Clark After Dark event raises money for troops
The Clark After Dark event runs through 10 p.m. Thursday along Hubbard Street between Clark and LaSalle streets.

CHICAGO (WLS) -- The Clark After Dark event in River North neighborhood has music, food and drinks Thursday night -- all to support the USO of Illinois.

The event, located on Hubbard Street between Clark and LaSalle streets, will run until 10 p.m. Tickets are $10. VIP tickets are $150.

Alison Ruble, president and CEO of USO Illinois, said the organization supports local troops and their families

"From day one, we've been there to lift the spirits to make the lives of our service members and their families better through things such as centers and programs that are there to help them."

The event is expected to exceed the $100,000 it raised last year.

The Chicago Automobile Trade Association has worked with USO of Illinois for three years and will present the organization a check for more than $121,000. CATA's Chicago area dealerships threw barbeques at their showrooms to support local USO efforts and also collection donations throughout July for the USO.
