Donations pour in for nuns without heat
Donations to help the nuns of Fraternite Notre Dame replace the broken boilers that left them in the cold since Wednesday continue to pour in.

CHICAGO (WLS) -- An online fundraising effort has passed $100,000 to help some Chicago nuns in need of new boilers to heat their West Side church, where they also sleep.

It is so cold inside the holy water froze.

ABC7's Windy City Live launched the GoFundMe page hoping to help the eight sisters of Fraternite Notre Dame after one of the church boilers broke two weeks ago. This week, the second boiler gave out.

Repairs are temporary and the church needs a new commercial boiler system, which could cost $200,000.

That's the reason for the campaign and as of Sunday night it is up to more than $139,000.
