Clark After Dark is a party for service members and their families. The event, which features food, fun, and live music, helps raise money for the USO.

CEO of USO Illinois Alison Ruble hoped to welcome a couple thousand people to support local troops and their families.

"We are that bridge of connection between the civilian community and our military, and they need to know that we appreciate them now more than ever," said Ruble.

The event ended at 10 p.m.

At the event, a check for $147,000 was presented to the USO of Illinois that was raised during the annual Barbecue for the Troops.

The Barbecue for the Troops events were sponsored by 100 Chicago area new car dealerships. They fired up the grills for the military at family celebrations last month where men and women who serve the nation were honored.

The money raised will help more than 300 active duty guard and reserve troops and their families.
