Property tax exemption information for disabled veterans

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Following the report of disabled veterans frustrated by their property tax exemption process, the Cook County Assessor's Office is providing additional information and guides for those affected.

"Because the vast majority of disabled veterans in Cook County will receive the exemption deductions from their property tax bills at the normal time, we thought it would be good for the Assessor's Office to provide updated information about the Disabled Veterans Homeowner Exemption," said Tom Shaer, Deputy Assessor for Communications.
