Coughing children may not need medicine to feel better and something as basic as sugar water could do the trick.

Penn State researchers studied 120 children with coughs. Some were given nectar or food coloring mixed in water, while others received no treatment.

Those who got placebo treatments had less coughing and congestion and also slept better than the children not treated at all.

Researchers say this proves you start to feel better if you think you are taking something that helps.
