CHICAGO (WLS) -- CTA Red and Purple Line riders should plan for a longer trip when renovation work on the Wilson station begins March 9.

Southbound Red and Purple Line express trains will share one track between the Wilson and Belmont stations until spring 2016.

Some Red Line commutes will be 2 to 4 minutes longer during the morning rush. Purple Line trips will be 4 to 6 minutes longer.

Purple Line trains that normally run express from Howard to Belmont will also stop at Wilson, Sheridan and Addison.

Renovation for the CTA Wilson station, located in Chicago's Uptown neighborhood, should be complete by late 2017.
