Wilmette Dairy Queen customers subject to new parking rules

WILMETTE, Ill. (WLS) -- A quick trip to a Dairy Queen in Wilmette could end up costing some people more money than expected because of some new parking rules.

A neighboring strip mall says some of its parking spots are being used by the ice cream shop's customers and their own customers need them. Some people have had their cars booted - that costs them more than $100.

Dairy Queen's operator Bill Ridge says he understands his neighbor's concerns and tries to cooperate.

"Our people aren't preventing their businesses from getting their parking after 9 p.m. at night when everything over there is closed," Ridge said.

The real estate company that owns the neighboring property says they've asked about 60 people to move their cars and booting has been minimal.
