2 injured in Dan Ryan tow truck crash

CHICAGO (WLS) -- An Illinois Department of Transportation employee was injured early Tuesday in a tow truck crash.

The crash occurred just before 2 a.m. on the northbound Dan Ryan at 47th Street. Police say a car crashed into an IDOT tow truck that was assisting a different crash.

Illinois State Police say the car the crashed into the tow truck briefly caught fire.

The minuteman was taken to Mercy Hospital as a precaution; the driver was taken to Stroger Hospital with minor injuries.
