Cary-Grove student gets perfect score on ACT

A local high school junior landed himself in a very select group.

Paul Tschurtz from Cary-Grove High School scored a perfect 36 on his ACT.

It was his first time taking the test, but Paul said he went to a prep class twice a week.

"I was really surprised. I didn't have to guess on any answers, but I still expected to get a few wrong. I was hoping for a 34, but I was really happy," said Tschurtz.

The junior hopes to one day be a patent attorney. He is researching colleges and is planning to visit colleges over the summer.

Just 2,000 of the two million students who take take the college entrance exam get a perfect score nationwide. He is the third District 155 to get a perfect score this year, with Crystal Lake students Jacob Anderson and Teresa Fisher getting perfect scores in the spring.
