GLEN ELLYN, Ill. (WLS) -- The board of trustees for the College of DuPage planned to put President Robert Breuder on administrative leave. But he preempted them by going on medical leave on Wednesday.

He has been under fire because of a $763,000 severance package to end his contract next year - three years early.

The newly elected trustees are scheduled to meet Thursday night to elect a board chairman. A discussion to place Breuder on paid administrative leave was on the agenda.
