CHICAGO (WLS) -- There are more students graduating from Chicago Public Schools than ever before.

City officials said the 2017 class had a record graduation rate of about 77 percent.

African-American teenage boys were a major reason for that accomplishment. They had an increase in graduation rates of more than five percent.

The CPS graduation rate has grown by more than a third since 2011.
