CTU strike vote ballot counting begins

Chicago Teachers Union president Karen Lewis.

Workers have started counting the ballots cast in the Chicago Teachers Union strike authorization vote.

Members are upset over the request in their under-negotiation contract that teachers pay more into their pension plans.

The results of the vote are expected to be announced Monday. If approved, a strike could happen as early as the first week of October.
