What time should school start?

CHICAGO (WLS) -- How early is too early for school? Chicago Public Schools recently announced new start times at some schools.

While CPS officials said it will save millions of dollars and avoid classroom cuts, some parents aren't happy with the shift of schedules.

The CPS announcement comes as a new study by the American Academy of Pediatrics suggests later start times could benefit children.

"Those who don't get enough sleep, are more likely to be overweight, not engaged in physical activity, suffer from depressive symptoms, engage in risky behavior, perform poorly in school," Dr. Richard Besser said.
