CHICAGO (WLS) -- Three people appeared in court Tuesday on charges related to a massive lakefront fight at Montrose Beach over the weekend that injured two Chicago Police officers. Ten people were arrested.

Sunday evening, Montrose Beach was filled with partygoers. Word of the party spread very quickly, mostly through social media. It had apparently been going on for several hours when police shut it down around 7:45 Sunday evening and that is when the violence began.

Party-goers were brazen as they threw bottles at a police car driving through Montrose Beach as officers attempted to get the crowd to disperse. Several others allegedly threw bottles at officers it in the open.

Twenty-three-year-old Efrain Saucedo and 19-year-old Emmanuel Lopez are now charged with felony aggravated battery of a police officer for throwing bottles. Twenty-year-old Sergio Vidrio is charged with mob action and drug possession.

Many nearby residents are concerned that an unlicensed party like could happen on the lakefront.

"I don't get how this happened and nobody knew about it," said area resident Denice Davis.

In court, prosecutors said there were about 500 people and a band playing at the party. When officers arrived and told the band to stop playing and the people to leave, things apparently got ugly.

Park District officials say they were unaware of the party, which would normally require a license and a security plan. The Chicago Sport and Social Club has a big beach party planned for this weekend with more than 5,000 people.

"We started this permit process for our event in January at the beginning of the year and have gone on through every step of the process through every city department to make sure that we have a safety and security plan," Jason Erkes, Chicago Sport and Social Club.

Park District officials and police say they are pursuing organizers of the party, hoping to collect damages and cleanup costs.

"My concern is accessibility," Davis said. "There should have never been allowed a party there without permits."

Two of the suspects in court Tuesday, Saucedo and Lopez, are being held on $90,000 bond. The third suspect, Vidrio, is being held on $25,000 bond.

Organizers of the party have declined to comment on the incident.
